Q&A:
I need 5TB of Native Storage in a Raid 5 configuration. The drives must be atleast 10 or 15K RPM. What configuration would you recommend?
You could go with either 12 x 600GB SAS 10K 6GBPS Drives or 12 x 600GB SAS 15K 6GBPS Drives to achieve the amount of storage that you need as well as the performance.
Can I install 2.5" Hard Drives in to the MD1200?
You can install 2.5" drives as long as you use the 2.5" to 3.5" Hybrid Adapters with a Dell SAS/SATAU Hard Drive Tray.
Can I Install Non-Dell Certified drives in Powervault MD1200?
Technically Non-Dell drives will work in the MD1200. However, they will be seen as uncertified by the Dell diagnostics. They may also hault your system upon reboots, prompting
that the drives are uncertified.
Does the MD1200 support SED hard drives?
Yes, the Powervault MD1200 and Perc H800 support Dell Certified SED Hard Drives.
